4 children rushed to hospitals after Lake Michigan incident

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — 4 children, including 3 from a Chicago church group were rushed to area hospitals after being rescued from Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana.

One of the children was airlifted to a hospital in South Bend.  Witnesses say 3 boys from the church group lost their footing in the water and went under.  The fourth child was a 14 year old girl from Mokena who tried to help after the boys got in trouble.

Lifeguards at Washington Beach in Michigan City were able to get everyone out of the water.  There is no update on the condition of the child taken to South Bend.  The three others are expected to be treated and released.
