Cubs acquire reliever Joe Smith from Angels: reports

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs have reportedly added to their bullpen at the MLB trade deadline.

According to reports, the Cubs have acquired Joe Smith from the Los Angeles Angels. Buster Olney of ESPN broke the story shortly before 3 p.m.

Smith has a 3.82 ERA and 25 strikeouts over 37.2 IP this season. The right-hander joins Aroldis Chapman as one of the newest members of the Cubs’ relief corps.
