Crash kills 1; shuts down Stevenson

CHICAGO – Inbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway have been reopened near Cicero Avenue after a deadly crash.

Outbound lanes remain closed.

Just before 11 a.m. Monday, two semis were involved in an accident. Illinois State Police say one of them was carrying unknown hazardous material.

One person was transported to the hospital in stable condition, according to Illinois State Police.

Two other vehicles were believed to be involved. Illinois State Police say they later discovered a fifth vehicle with at least one person killed inside.

Crews are on scene to put out a fire.

WLS 890 radio personality Steve Dahl witnessed the crash Monday and shared what he saw with WGN.
