For millions of people, watching “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” at the end of the evening became a nightly ritual, and Johnny, with his quick wit and natural charm, became a well-known entertainer loved by many. Most of the later shows began with music and Ed McMahon’s "Heeeeeere's Johnny!" announcement, followed by Johnny’s brief comedic monologue. This was often followed by comedy sketches, guest interviews, and musical performances.

One of his monologue jokes would be about the weather.  Hot or cold, he would deliver one liners and involve his sometimes tipsy sidekick, Ed McMahon.
