CHICAGO -- Severe weather and flooding hit the Chicago area Saturday evening and night.

Thunderstorms will continue to move from northwest-to-southeast across the city, and the west and south suburbs, before reaching northwest Indiana between 11 PM and midnight.

Though storms are forecast to gradually weaken, a period of heavy rainfall and brief wind gusts to 40 mph can be expected.

Warnings and advisories regarding flooding from earlier storms remain in effect across portions of far northern Illinois.

Earlier tonight, Coldplay fans were told to "seek shelter" during their Soldier Field concert. Fans have now been permitted to return to their seats.
