Pregnant woman among 3 shot in Calumet City

CALUMET CITY, Ill. --  Police are investigating a triple shooting in south suburban Calumet City that wounded three people including a woman who is seven months pregnant.

21-year-old Glenisha Owens was shot 13 times in the legs and hands. A bullet also grazed her stomach.

Relatives say Owens is seven months pregnant.

Owens' mother, Ruth Dorsey says she and the baby are expected to survive.

"It needs to stop.  It happens every day.  I'm standing in another parent's shoes.  It's just fortunate that my daughter made it, because it could have been totally different," Dorsey said.

Owens' boyfriend, 23-year-old Steven Taylor was  shot multiple times as well  and remains in critical condition at the hospital.

Their friend, a 22-year-old man, was also injured in this shooting

The three victims were sitting in a car when they were shot.

Witnesses say a red SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire around at 3:30 p.m. in the 600 block of River Dr.

Investigators recovered nearly 19 shell casings from the scene.

No one in custody.

Calumet City investigators are asking for anyone with information to contact them.
