Chicago’s German community heartbroken over deadly rampage in Munich

CHICAGO --  The shooting in Munich has left many in the Chicago area with heavy hearts.

In Chicago’s Lincoln Square, the Chicago Brauhaus has drawn customers for more than 30 years and serves up traditional German food and beer.

Today, owner Gunther Kempf got word of the shooting in Munich, a city not far from where he grew up.

“It's a tragic day.  It's indescribable,” he said.

Halfway around the world, the pain hits home for those who hold Germany close to their hearts.
