MCHENRY, Ill. –A 4-year-old girl remains hospitalized after being found unresponsive in a hot car.

Officers arrived on the scene at Holly Court in unincorporated McHenry at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A preliminary investigation indicates the girl overheard conversations about going to her Grandma’s house for dinner. The girl went outside and climbed into the car without anyone’s knowledge.

The family began looking for the girl approximately 15-20 minutes later and found her in the car unresponsive.

The mother immediately removed her from the car and called 911.
