City Council approves Chicago property tax rebate plan

CHICAGO--The Chicago City Council has approved a property tax rebate to ease the sting of Mayor Emanuel's record property tax hike.

Homeowners making $75,000 or less can qualify for rebates of up to $200.

The council is also expected to approve $4.3 million in payouts to people who were victims of police misconduct.

The alderman Wednesday passed an ordinance to keep city workers from trapping coyotes.

City officials say coyotes help kill rats . They say the city should spend its resources elsewhere.
