CHICAGO -- A leukemia survivor from Chicago got to meet the donor who saved his life, and it turns out, both of them are life-long Cubs fans.

It was only fitting that they met for the first time today at Wrigley Field before the Cubs took on the Rangers. Josh Byrd, 31, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2014.

A non-profit, DKMS, found a match in Stephanie Newton. Byrd underwent a successful bone marrow transplant in February 2015. The agency says finding a match is rare, but that both are Cubs fans is a coincidence that defies odds.

The Cubs won the game 3-1.
