SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- A mother tried to stop a thief from stealing a car with her kids inside by jumping on the hood.

Tatanisha Golden says she stopped at convenience store near Los Angeles Sunday night.

Her children, ages 1 and 2 years old, were asleep in their car seats so she left them in the car with the engine running.

When she looked outside a few minutes later a man was stealing her car.

Tatanisha jumped on the hood to stop the man but she fell off.

A good Samaritan helped her chase the car until police arrived.

The suspect was arrested and charged with kidnapping and carjacking.

The children were not hurt.
