CHICAGO -- Building a strong community helps keep a community safe.
This morning the Chicago Parks District opened the arts and recreation center at Ellis Park in Bronzeville. The center comes with services that are in high demand in the neighborhood.
The 32,000 square foot facility has an indoor pool -- the first in a long time on the South Side -- a basketball court, a fitness center and planned park district activities for kids and adults.
In addition to the fun activities here, it’s believed this building will also help build a stronger since of community.
The center provides structured activity where little was available before this structure was built.
