* The Chicago White Sox are 6-3 in their last nine games. It’s been an all-or-nothing story with their offense over the nine games, 39 runs in six wins, no runs in the three losses. This is the first time since 1973 that Chicago has been shutout in three straight losses (July 20, 22, 26; only counts losses, wins ignored).

* At 41-42, the New York Yankees are in danger of finishing without a winning record for the first time since 1992. Their 23-year streak of finishing above .500 is the longest active streak among the four major American sport leagues.

* Chris Sale was selected to his fifth straight All-Star team yesterday, a feat matched by only four other American League lefties in major league history (Lefty Gomez, Hal Newhouser, Billy Pierce and Lefty Grove.

* Adam Eaton has five straight multi-hit games at home against the Yankees, the first White Sox player to do that in nearly 72 years (Ralph Hodgin in 1944).
