CHICAGO –The inbound lanes of the Chicago Skyway are open again near Stony Island Ave. after crews finished cleaning up after an overturned semi truck that flipped over there early Thursday morning.

The semi truck apparently crashed into a guardrail around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The driver is in good condition according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Cleanup after the accident took several hours because a steel guard rail punctured the truck’s fuel tank during the crash, spilling fuel onto the roadway and embankment. Hazmat crews were called in to clean up the spill.

Officials say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
