CHICAGO -- A woman was stabbed to death on the Red Line near 47th Street on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.

Jessica Hampton, 25, was stabbed in the neck during an argument with a man she knew.

“It was an ongoing domestic argument between a couple, a male and female, on one of the CTA trains,” he said. “As the train approached 47th Street, the male stabbed the female.”

Escalante said the offender surrendered to the first officer on the scene and the knife was recovered.

Much of the incident was recorded by CTA cameras.

"There is definitely no threat to any other CTA passengers, and there was no threat to CTA passengers at the time, unfortunately, other than the victim," Escalante said.

The man is in custody.  Charges are pending.
