Cleanup begins after state hit hard; 8 tornadoes confirmed so far

The National Weather Service says it's determined at least eight tornadoes hit Illinois amid powerful storms that swept across the Upper Midwest.

The service says EF2 tornadoes with estimated top wind speeds of 115-125 mph hit Pontiac and Seneca on Wednesday night. Survey teams determined that EF1 tornadoes with maximum winds up to 110 mph hit Cissna Park, West Brooklyn, Ottawa, Troy Grove and an area 5 mile northwest of Ottawa. An EF0 tornado with top wind speeds of 85 mph hit Mazon.

No one was killed. The Pontiac tornado injured seven people.
