* Boston has won five of its last seven games against the White Sox, including two of three in Chicago May 3-5.

* The Red Sox lead the majors in runs per game (5.7) and batting average (.291). Their last season leading MLB in both categories was 2005 (5.6 and .281).

* The White Sox were swept in a three-game series at Cleveland over the weekend, scoring exactly two runs in all three games. Chicago has lost six straight road games overall, and 12 of its last 14.

* Jose Abreu has 15 RBI in 16 games this month, after not driving in any runs in his last 12 games of May. Abreu’s 250 career RBI rank fifth in the majors since the start of the 2014 season.

* Mookie Betts ranks second on the Red Sox with 15 home runs this year (David Ortiz, 18), all out of the No. 1 position in the batting order. He’s the first player in team history to hit 15+ homers out of the leadoff spot in back-to-back seasons (he had 17 in 2015).

* Steven Wright currently leads the American League with a 2.22 ERA. No primary knuckleball pitcher has led either league in ERA over a full season since Phil Niekro led the NL in 1967 with the Braves (1.87).
