CHICAGO – Cubs’ center fielder Dexter Fowler is headed to the disabled list with an undisclosed hamstring injury.

Fowler was put on the 15-day D.L. before tonight’s game with Iowa Cubs’ pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. taking his place on the active roster.

Fowler left Saturday’s game in the first inning after noticeably struggling to beat out a ground ball.

Albert Almora Jr. is expected to take over center field duties from Fowler for the time being.

Fowler is currently batting .290 with seven home runs and 28 RBI.

He’s also leading the N.L. in All-Star votes among outfielders.
