CHICAGO — A South Lawndale man has been charged with kidnapping after he allegedly tried to abduct a 20-year-old woman in the Little Village┬áneighborhood Friday morning.

According to police, around 8:15 a.m. Friday 35-year-old Juan Robles grabbed the woman from behind and attempted to drag her away. A neighbor who heard her cries for help came to her aid and helped free the woman from his grasp, police say, and then a witness held the suspect until officers arrived on the scene.

Officials say Robles was charged with one felony count of kidnapping Saturday morning after he was positively identified as the would-be kidnapper.
