BANGOR, Maine — Last week, a plea to help make a teen’s birthday went viral. And the Internet answered – big time.
By now, you may have seen the heartbreaking photo of Hallee Sorenson sitting alone at her own birthday.
The photo of the 18-year-old, who has autism, was posted to Facebook by her cousin Rebecca Lyn.
Rebecca said Hallee was heartbroken, hurt and beyond sad.
So with Hallee’s 19th birthday coming up in July, Rebecca wants it to be extra special and asked the Internet to send her cards.
“Hal loves getting mail- this would be the best birthday gift she could ask for. If you could find it in your heart to take a few mins out of your day and send her a card, I would be forever greatful,” Rebecca wrote.
The photo and post went viral and the mail came pouring in.
Her cousin set up a Facebook page and has been updating it with photos and posts:
Your outpouring of love and kindness for Hallee over the last 48 hours or so has been overwhelming, and on behalf of the family I’d like to thank you most sincerely from the bottom of our hearts. We want you to know we’re reading every one of your messages and posts, and appreciate them more than we can say.
Hallee has seen mail and packages from all around the United States, and a few from over seas.
Among the notable senders:
Pro Sports Teams: The Washington Redskins, the Boston Red Sox and the Denver Broncos:
Politicians – like the Governor of Ohio
