CONTINENTAL, Ohio — A photo of a patriotic young man in Ohio is going viral just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

Cole Dotson, 18, was apparently going past his school Sunday when he noticed the American flag had fallen to the ground. So he picked it up and called his grandmother — she works for the school and knew who to get in touch with to help.

Dotson’s mother Rhonda Ordway Pester posted the photo of Cole holding the flag to Facebook, and it has been shared over 60,000 times.

Dotson also posted a message to his Facebook page after the photo took off:

“This picture of me got almost 100 likes and almost 60 shares in two hours. Makes me proud. Thank you all for the support! I didn’t intend to get recognized for what I did. But I am sure glad to see the support and respect for the flag. I love this flag and this country. God bless America.”

According to WOIO, Dotson comes from a family with a history of military service, and that he plans to serve as well.
