Girl, 7, killed after hit by city-leased tractor in West Englewood

The accident happened in the 6500 block of South Ashland.

CHICAGO — A 7-year-old girl has died after being hit by a city-leased tractor on Chicago’s South Side.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Friday in the 6500 block of South Ashland in the city’s West Englewood neighborhood.

The girl and her mother were crossing in the middle of the intersection when she was struck by the vehicle.

The child was taken to the hospital in grave condition where she later died.

The mother suffered hip injuries, but she turned down treatment and rushed to the hospital to be with her daughter.

The tractor driver will be issued tickets.
