MOSCOW, Russia – The Blackhawks may have found a solution to their defensive depth problem.
According to The Athletic’s Scott Powers, 25-year-old Michael Kempny agreed to terms with the Hawks.
Including the playoffs, Kempny scored 7 goals and notched 18 assists in 70 games in the KHL last year.
The lefty defenseman is thought to be in the mix for one of the Blackhawks top six back end spots along with Erik Gustafsson, David Runblad and Viktor Svedberg, who together tallied 2 goals and 16 assists in a combined 77 games.
Kempny most recently competed in the IIHF World Championship for the Czech Republic, racking up 2 assists in 8 games.
