Naperville ranked wealthiest city in Midwest, study says

NerdWallet is out with its list of the wealthiest communities in America, and the richest city in the Midwest may come as a surprise.

It’s Naperville.

Before you ask, “What about Oak Brook or Barrington or Kenilworth,” you should know that this list includes only communities with at least 65,000 people.

NerdWallet measured household income, home prices, and family credit limits, among other things.

Key factors in Naperville’s calculation included:

Median household income: $104,419

Median home price: $364,300

Percent of homes with no mortgage: 23 percent

Average credit limit: $67,075

Other Top 10 Midwest communities include Arlington Heights, Bolingbrook, Evanston and Palatine.

Naperville ranks 19th nationwide.
