KENT COUNTY, Michigan — A black bear made a surprise cameo during a Michigan TV station’s news cast.

FOX 17’s Doug Reardon was reporting from an area in Kent County, Michigan where the bear had been spotted.  And it wasn’t long before the star of the story showed up.

The Kent County Sheriff’s deputies saw the bear near a business and it ran into a wooded valley, Fox 17 reports.

DNR wildlife biologist Nick Kalejs told Fox 17 it’s not uncommon to see bears in heavily populated areas, and they’re usually harmless.  However, that doesn’t mean you can let your guard down.

The DNR says it’s best to steer clear of the animals if you see them.
