Family, friends mourn 15-year-old girl stabbed to death

CHICAGO -- Charges are pending against two people for the fatal stabbing of a teenage girl on the South Side.

Dekayla Dansberry, 15, was stabbed in the chest during a fight near 65th and King Drive in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Emergency crews rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she later died.

New Beginnings Church of Chicago at 6620 South King Drive held a vigil for Dansberry at 4 p.m. Sunday, where family and friends gathered to mourn the loss.

 

Police arrested two suspects last night and they expect charges to be filed in Dansberry's death. They are not saying what led to the fight.
