Market helps kids get something special for mom

They may be small in stature but they’ve got very big hearts, full of love for their mommies.

Just days ahead of Mother’s Day, they are getting the chance to show mom just how much they care. Thanks to the Northwestern University Settlement House and its Mother’s Day Market.

With just a quarter in hand, kids got the chance to buy mom a very special present she might not otherwise have gotten. There were tables of jewelry, purses, scarves all gathered and organized by donors and volunteers so that families who may not have a lot of money have a lot of love in their home this Sunday.

Nearly 200 Settlement House kids will get to shop the special market. Their gifts were carefully wrapped and bagged by volunteers.

Their experience bringing smiles to everyone’s faces along with self-confidence, pride and a lot of love for their mom’s ahead of the Mother’s Day weekend.
