Man charged in shooting of Chicago officer

CHICAGO — Charges have been filed in the shooting of a Chicago police officer.

Rafael Martir-Ubiles was charged Wednesday night in the shooting that happened after a chase in Little Village.

Police say two officers on patrol saw three suspicious men near 24th and Trumbull on Monday afternoon.

One of the officers was shot in the shoulder while trying to chase them.  The other officer suffered a cut on his hand.

Both are recovering.

The suspect is facing seven felony charges and is scheduled to appear in bond court today.
