Man in custody after 12-year-old lured on social media

CHICAGO -- A man is in police custody accused of luring an underage girl over social media.

Police say a 12-year-old girl did not show up for school in Palos Hills yesterday.  Her mother was contacted by the school, then her mother contacted police.

Palos Hills police began the search believing the girl may be with an 18-year-old man she met online.

Early this morning, they located the girl,and other underage girls at a home here in the 6000 block of North Ridge in Chicago.

Chicago police took him into custody while Palos Hills police took the girl to the hospital to be checked out.

No word on any injuries but Palos Hills police say the girl is safe.

Charges against the 18-year-old man are pending tonight.
