CHICAGO — Same sex marriage in Chicago is approaching a milestone.

Cook County expects to issue its 10,000th same sex marriage certificate this summer.

Some 9,200 licenses have been issued to gay and lesbian couples since 2014. That’s when a state law legalized same sex marriage.

In 2015 same sex marriages made up 7 percent of all marriages in the county.
