TORONTO – Toronto Zoo officials are investigating after a someone posted a video on YouTube showing a woman jump over a tiger enclosure fence.

The video was posted by Jared Sales Saturday.

It appears to show the woman hopping the barrier to retrieve a hat.

The tiger is seen pacing, seemingly agitated, as the woman moved around on the other side of the second interior fence.

She then climbs up out of the pen and onto a walkway.

A man is heard shouting at the woman, calling her a moron.

“You’re a bad example to everyone’s kids,” he yelled.

Another woman jumped in to break up the argument, but the man continued to berate her for her action.

A zoo spokesperson says staff were not near the tiger pen at the time the video was recorded.  She says “the situation could have been much worse.  It was very irresponsible of this individual to jump over the boardwalk and [she] could have easily injured herself by exciting the animal in this way.”

Staff weren’t notified of the incident until hours later, and weren’t able to find the woman in the video.

The zoo has since launched an investigation into the incident, and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
