Chicago cop shot with pellet gun

CHICAGO -- Four people are in custody after a Chicago police officer was shot with a pellet gun on the west side.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday night near Madison and Cicero Avenues.

The officer was working a vice operation in the West Garfield Park neighborhood when he was shot.

He and another officer returned fire, but didn't hit anyone.

The pellet gun was recovered at the scene.

The officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but he was released.

Charges have not yet been filed.
