GARY, Ind. -- Police are asking for the community's help in finding the suspects involved in this home invasion and beating.

Police in Gary were called to the 2100 block of West Garnett around 4 a.m. Tuesday and found the couple badly beaten.

Police say an African American man and woman knocked on the front door and the elderly couple who lives inside answered the door. The suspects then pushed their way inside, beat up the residents and got away with some of their valuables.

The victims are both in their mid to late 60's and told police they didn't recognize the suspects.

The couple was taken to the hospital, where they are still being treated, but are now in stable condition.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Gary Police tip line at 1-866-CRIME-GP.
