CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating after an attempted robbery and shooting Thursday night on the city’s North Side.

A 28-year-old man tried to rob two other men, but was shot to death by one of his intended victims in Uptown.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of West Winona as the two 23-year-old men were unloading a car.

The attempted robber walked up to them and demanded their things. One of the men gave him his wallet and cellphone, but when the attempted robber demanded the car, the other man shot and killed him.

Police say the attempted robber had been on parole for a past armed robbery conviction.

Police aren’t releasing names yet.
