MILWAUKEE -- Marquette University is extending its suspension of a professor for a controversial blog post.

According to WITI, professor John McAdams has been banned from campus since December 2014. He wrote a post on his conservative-leaning blog about a student who felt his instructor blew off a request to discuss his opposition to gay marriage.

On Thursday, the university said it was extending McAdams' suspension without pay until January of next year and told McAdams he must write a letter of apology.

"They asked me what I wanted to do and I simply gave them a one word answer, 'fight,'" McAdams said.

McAdams plans to fight the decision to extend his suspension. He says he has the backing of the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and is weighing his options.
