Murder suspect says he was ordered to shoot Hadiya Pendleton

CHICAGO — One of the suspects in the murder of Hadiya Pendleton says he was forced to shoot her.

That revelation came in transcribed police interviews with suspect Micheail Ward.

Hadiya was gunned down in January, 2013 in a park in the Kenwood neighborhood.

Ward told police, a gang leader ordered him to shoot Hadiya. After the shooting, Ward says he burst into tears.

Ward’s public defender is asking that his admission not be entered as evidence when Ward stands trial.
