Man injured in shooting on NB I-57

CHICAGO -- A man has been injured in a shooting on a South Side expressway.

The man was driving a minivan on northbound I-57 near 111th Street shortly before 2 a.m. Friday when someone opened fire.

He was shot in the leg, but managed to drive himself to a Shell gas station at 98th and Halsted.

The driver was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and is listed in good condition.

The minivan has multiple bullet holes on the driver-side door.

Police are searching for suspects. It is unknown at this time if the driver was targeted.

All lanes of northbound I-57 were closed at 111th Street earlier this morning due to a shooting investigation, but reopened around 5 a.m.
