CHICAGO — It’s a Chicago tradition, the annual dyeing of the Chicago River to be followed by St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and a parade downtown.

About 9 a.m. Saturday tradition held true, as crews began transforming the river green as onlookers stood by ready to take part in the festivities.

Celebrations are, once again, taking place the Saturday before the holiday, whose official date is Thursday, March 17.
