Bears sign inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman to 3-year deal
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Only four days into free agency and the Bears have already tackled a handful of their top targets.
Former Colts inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman is the latest to join Chicago’s revamped defense.
Freeman agreed to a three-year deal today, likely joining Danny Trevathan as the foundation of the Bears linebacking corps.
In each of his four season with the Colts, Freeman finished first or second in team tackles.
Last year, he racked up 112 in just 13 games to go along with 3 sacks and an interception.
Freeman, who turns 30 in May, has only been in the NFL for five seasons.
Before coming into the league as an undrafted free agent, Freeman played three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders where led the CFL in tackles in 2011.
