High-speed police chase ends with arrest in Monee

MONEE, Ill. -- A 17-year-old led police on a high speed chase in southern Cook County this morning.

Police say the teen was sleeping in the driver's seat of a stolen vehicle parked on a neighborhood street in Richton Park Friday morning, when officers attempted to approach him.

The teen quickly woke up and drove off, leading police on a chase through Richton Park.

It ended when the teen crashed the vehicle in Monee.

He then ran through a cornfield before officers arrested him.

Police were searching the area after reports the teen tossed a gun when he got out.

Charges are pending.
