MANHATTAN, NY–There are reports that some Uber drivers trying to plant fake vomit in their cars when their riders leave the car to make more money off the customers by collecting cleaning fees.

According to the Gothamist, there have been at least three cases throughout the United States where an Uber customer notices an outrageous charge on their receipt that does not include the ride fare.

A Manhattan woman says she was charged a $200 cleaning fee when she got her receipt for her Uber ride because the driver added the fee to her account and said she threw up in his car.

The woman says she never threw up during the ride and in fact never even felt sick.

When she called Uber’s customer service, she said she was told the cleaning fees are at the driver’s discretion.

The woman said she became suspicious after a customer service representative informed her that unlike the ride fair, the driver gets to keep all the money from the cleaning fees.

Uber is now warning customers to check your receipt at the end of each ride to see exactly what you’re being charged for.
