CHICAGO -- Students at Chicago’s Carl Von Linne Elementary School got the surprise of a lifetime today.

Nearly 100 kindergarten-2nd graders are getting a brand new free bike.

These bikes are a direct result of Buddy's Helpers Challenge Day which a part of the "Making A Difference On and Off The Field" campaign.

The kids getting new bikes here have perfect or nearly perfect attendance.

Sunday, a team consisting of  parents, teachers, coaches and high school students spent the day assembling the bikes.

Organizers say they chose Von Linne because its diversity and 70 percent of the students are low-income.
