Off-duty Indiana officer stabbed while working at Chicago auto pound

CHICAGO -- An off-duty police officer from Indiana was stabbed in the head while working security at a Chicago auto pound on the Far South Side.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Monday at a Chicago auto pound yard on 103rd and South Doty.

The Indiana officer was stabbed in the face or ear and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

His wounds are said to be non-life-threatening.

No one is in custody.

Area South detectives are investigating.

The 22-year-old has been a  police officer for Indiana University-NW campus in Gary Indiana for about a year.
