KENOSHA, Wis. — Some buffalo are roaming in southeastern Wisconsin.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department says it responded about 8 a.m. Saturday for a report that a herd of bison had escaped from a farm in the Town of Paris.

Authorities say the bison were able to escape their enclosure after a fallen tree compromised the fence.

Eight of the bison have been corralled as of early Saturday afternoon. Others are still loose and have been seen near county highways just northeast of the Village of Paddock Lake.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully, and the sheriff’s department is advising residents to stay away from the large animals.
