Bail set at $50K for former CPS teacher accused of criminal sexual assault

CHICAGO  – Bail has been set at $50,000 for a former CPS teacher accused of having inappropriate encounters with an underage victim.

Robert J. Weaver, 57,  was arrested Thursday night in the city’s 11th District after he was identified as the attacker.

Weaver was charged with one felony count predatory criminal sexual assault.

The Chicago Tribune reports the allegations go back to 1998 and 1999 when Weaver worked as a music teacher at Walter Payton College Prep High School on the near North Side.

Police say the victim is now an adult.
