Bears tight end Martellus Bennett makes a catch against the Rams in 2015.

LAKE FOREST – He’s not going to be a free agent until the end of the 2016 season, but Martellus Bennett might be on the move anyway.

Today a report from ESPN states that the Bears are working with the tight end’s agent to arrange a trade before the start of next season.

This may not come as a surprise to many considering some of the strife that has appeared to build between Bennett and the Bears. Last season Bennett didn’t show up for voluntary OTAs  in hopes of getting a new contract and was unhappy with his role last season in the team’s offense.

A member of the Bears since 2013, Bennett made 53 catches for 439 yards and three touchdowns last season in 11 games. He was placed on Injured Reserve on December 8th with fractured ribs.
