PARIS — Friends who rented an Airbnb home near Paris made a gruesome discovery Saturday, finding the corpse of a woman in the garden.

The friends had been renting the house, in the town of Palaiseau, just south of Paris, for a weekend party when they found the body.

Bertrand Daillie, the deputy prosecutor for Evry, said the group discovered the badly decomposed body in the garden near the edge of the property. He says it was covered by tree branches that had been placed there deliberately.

The corpse of a woman, aged between 30 and 50, was fully dressed and barefoot, police told CNN.

The friends who rented the house were questioned by police Sunday.

A postmortem is being done on the badly decomposed body.

The cause of death remains unknown, but police are treating it as a criminal matter.

According to Le Parisien newspaper, the listing was removed Sunday from Airbnb.

Airbnb is an online home-renting site, which since launching in 2008 has grown to over 2 million listings in 190 countries.
