CHICAGO -- Candidates in the hotly contested race for Cook County state’s attorney, squaring-off tonight in their first televised debate.

A key issue: the fatal police shooting of a Chicago teen, Laquan McDonald and the extraordinary length of time it took to charge Jason Van Dyke, the officer who killed him.

Friday night's debate was co-sponsored by Univision, ABC7 and the League of Women Voters.

Cook County Democrats, after first saying they wouldn’t back a candidate in this race, changed their minds and are endorsing Kimberly Foxx, who picked up another major endorsement from the Chicago Tribune.
