CHICAGO -- A search has been called off for a 18-year-old boy who fell into Lake Michigan at Diversey Harbor.

The Chicago Fire Department Dive Team responded to the scene just before noon Thursday.

When fire fighters arrived, they quickly deployed divers with dry suits and face masks. They searched for about an hour. But the lake was just too dangerous.

Emergency teams are using thermal imaging cameras to search the surface. But this is no longer a rescue effort.
