Cubs trade Chris Coghlan to the Athletics for pitcher Aaron Brooks

MESA, Ariz.- Already with a solid collection of outfielders, the Cubs decided to part ways with one to bolter their pitching.

On Thursday the Cubs announced that they have traded Chris Coghlan to the Athletics for right-handed pitcher Aaron Brooks. 

Oddly enough Oakland obtained Brooks last year from the Royals in the trade that brought Ben Zobrist to Kansas City. He signed with the Cubs this past offseason.

Brooks was 3-5 with an 8.38 ERA let season with the Royals and Athletics in 15 games-10 of which he was a starter.

Coghlan was with the Cubs for two seasons and last year batted .250 with 16 homers and 41 RBIs in 148 games. He initially joined the Cubs in 2014.
